About 'First Time Female Director'
In the film, Peretti’s character Sam is hand-picked by the Regis Theatre’s artistic director (played by Andy Richter) to take over when their resident director is fired. Eager to please, Sam dives in as she attempts to corral an increasingly eclectic cast of theatrical misfits played by Benito Skinner, Kate Berlant, Meg Stalter, Megan Mullally, Jak Knight, and Blake Anderson.
Needless to say, things don’t exactly go according to plan with hilarity ensuing, so Sam turns to her eccentric therapist (Amy Poehler) and the theatre’s resident usher (Max Greenfield) for support. Along the way, Sam tries everything that she can think of to make the production work, but ultimately she has to decide if a lif in the theatre is really for her after all.
Also featured in the film are Brad Hall, Tim Heidecker, Natasha Leggero, Xosha Roquemore, and plenty of surprise cameos that you won’t want to have spoiled for you ahead of time.
