About 'Mayflies'
Jimmy Collins (Martin Compston) and Tully Dawson (Tony Curran) have been best friends for three decades, having bonded over a mutual love of music, movies and more. But when Tully receives a terminal cancer diagnosis, it casts a pall over their friendship and leads him to make a startling request of Jimmy.
Tully wants to take control over his own destiny, and commit assisted suicide in Switzerland, where the procedure is legal. He needs Jimmy’s help, but Jimmy isn’t sure if he can bring himself to follow through. As Jimmy wrestles with the choice, the two revisit moments in their friendship, particularly one key trip as teens where they promised each other they would take life on differently.
