About 'Mean Girls' Movie Musical
Tina Fey is putting a new spin on her comedy classic “Mean Girls” with the film version of the Broadway musical that she wrote with her Emmy-winning husband Jeff Richmond and Tony-nominated writer Nell Benjamin.
The story stays the same, but with some more modern embellishments. Cady Heron moves from the African wild to Chicago where she is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called The Plastics. Conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen rule North Shore High and bring Cady under their wings. But, when Cady falls for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself in Regina’s crosshairs.
As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
The movie stars Angourie Rice as Cady Herron, Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Auliʻi Cravalho as Janice, Jaquel Spivey as Damien, Avantika as Karen, Bebe Wood as Gretchen, and Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels. Also in the cast are Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Jon Hamm, and “Mean Girls” on Broadway star Ashley Park. Fey and Tim Meadows recreate their roles from the original 2004 film as well.
