For some, there’s nothing like a good mystery to get you into the holiday spirit. Such is the case — no pun intended — for Kate Bennett in the new OWN holiday movie “The Christmas Detective.” When someone steals a famous painting, private investigator Kate hopes that she can return the joy of Christmas to her town and get her career going. In order to catch the thief, she enlists her detective ex, and a painting might not be the only thing that these two former loves end up finding. When a famous portrait goes missing from a small boutique, Kate (played by Javicia Leslie) takes the case hoping to jump-start her career as a private investigator having recently left the world of pageants. However, the case proves to be more difficult than she anticipated, so she ends up teaming with her ex, another detective named Oak (Brad James).

Between the spirit of the holidays and the excitement of the mystery, Kate just might be able to not only discover who stole the painting, but also the meaning of the holidays as well.

Also appearing in the film are Arnold Pinnock, Kimberly Huie, Monica Rodriguez Knox, Yanna McIntosh, Stephanie Herrera, Ronda Louis-Jeune, and more.
