About 'Prisoner in Russia: The Brittney Griner Interview'
A two-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time WNBA All-Star, Brittney Griner sits down with Robin Roberts in her first interview since returning to the United States following her 10-month detainment in Russia. The wide-ranging conversation delves into Griner’s arrest and time spent in prison, the suicidal thoughts that she had during her incarceration, the difficulties navigating the Russian penal system, and much more.
In the special, Griner provides new insights into the negotiations behind the prisoner swap that freed her. She also opens her duffle bag from Russia, and shows Roberts a handful of personal possessions that helped her make it through the ordeal.
Roberts also speaks with Griner’s wife, attorney Cherelle Griner, about her role in securing Brittney’s release, as well as special presidential envoy of hostage affairs Roger Carstens and Griner’s agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas.
