About 'The Truth About Jim'
Produced by Imagine Documentaries for Investigation Discovery (ID) and directed by Skye Borgman (“Abducted in Plain Sight”), “The Truth About Jim” seeks to uncover truths about Jim Mordecai, a respected San Francisco Bay Area teacher and community member who, in private, had a vicious history of physical violence and sexual assault against women and girls, including his family.
Over four episodes, amateur investigator Sierra Barter begins an investigation into her deceased stepfather’s past, confronting generational and personal trauma with her mother Shannon Barter and her grandmother Judy Mordecai as they seek answers about the terror their family endured.
Through meetings with private investigators and law enforcement and interviews from extended family members, including Jim’s ex-wives and children, Barter and her family try to put together the full picture of Jim’s abuse and crimes and answer the question that looms over their discoveries: could Jim Mordecai have been a notorious serial killer?
