Beginning this weekend, Michael Jackson fans can take a trip back to the ’80s to the release of the best-selling album, “Thriller.” The album, released in 1982, has had a lasting impact and has transformed music and entertainment in huge ways. A new documentary, “Thriller 40” revisits the album’s release and acknowledges its lasting effects four decades later. The documentary premieres on Paramount+ on Saturday, Dec. 2. Subscribers with a Paramount+ and Showtime subscription can stream the documentary at no additional cost. It also airs on Showtime at 8 p.m. the same day. About 'Thriller 40'

In 1982, Michael Jackson went places no pop star had gone before when he released his album, “Thriller.” Director Nelson George takes viewers behind the scenes, revealing what went into the album’s smashing success. In addition to creating impressive, shocking new music, Jackson also went above and beyond with short films, specially created for the album’s release. In the documentary, Michael Jackson fans will witness the profound influence he left on the world, thanks to “Thriller.”

Along the way, viewers will discover new, exciting details in a series of interviews and exclusive footage. The documentary features interviews from many big names in the entertainment industry, including Usher, Mary J. Blige, Will.I.Am, Mark Ronson, Misty Copeland, Maxwell, and John Landis. They all reveal the impact Jackson’s “Thriller” had on them personally and their industry as a whole.

This isn’t the first documentary highlighting Jackson’s smashing success and powerful influence. Back in 2012, “Bad 25” revisited the release of that iconic album.
