About UFC 300: Pereira vs. Hill

On Saturday night in Las Vegas, 11 fighters who have at one point headlined a UFC PPV event will step into the Octagon to be a part of the historic UFC 300 event. The card will be headlined by the newly crowned light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira (9-2) as he defends his belt against the returning former titleholder Jamahal Hill (12-1). The former champion had to give up his title last summer due to an injury and now wants it back. Pereira has already made history as the first fighter to ever win both the UFC Middleweight and UFC Light Heavyweight Championships, and this will mark his first light heavyweight title defense.

The co-main event will see China’s first-ever UFC champion Zhang Weili (24-3) defend the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship title against No. 1 ranked contender Yan Xiaonan (17-3). Zhang is currently on a three-match winning streak. Also on the card, BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje makes his first defense against Max Holloway, UFC’s all-time record holder for significant strikes landed.

But the major matches aren’t just reserved for the main card as the prelims and early prelims are stacked with great fighters. However, the most interesting match might be between a Boxing Hall of Famer and an Olympic gold Medalist. Former women’s bantamweight champion and international boxing legend Holly Holm (15-6) is looking to spoil two-time Judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison’s (16-1) UFC debut. This match will feature two very different styles, which should make it quite the entertaining fight.
