Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark is getting closer to becoming the leading scorer in the history of NCAA women’s basketball and she will look to take one step closer when the Hawkeyes take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network. Iowa is currently ranked No. 2 in the country and is tied with No. 5 Ohio State for the lead in the Big Ten. Clark enters Thursday night’s game with 3,462 career points. That puts her just 65 points behind women’s college basketball’s all-time leading scorer Washington’s Kelsey Plum. While Clark is unlikely to ecplise the current Las Vegas Aces star against Penn State, she very well could knock off enough points to make Iowa’s game against Nebraska on Sunday the one where she officially claims the scoring crown.

The cold-blooded sharpshooter is averaging 32.4 points per game this season, which ironically puts on pace to just barely need an extra point to pass Plum by the end of the week. However, in January when the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers faced off, Clark went off for 38 points. So, if she can just get her average against PSU tonight, Clark will be well on her way to the scoring title when the Hawkeyes head to Lincoln this weekend.
