Is Beyonce’s New Movie ‘Renaissance’ Streaming? When Will it Be Available to Watch with a Streaming Subscription?

Beyonce’s documentary concert film ‘Renaissance’ is in theaters now, but is it also available to stream on-demand?

The Beyhive is abuzz this week, as Beyoncé’s newest concert documentary film “Renaissance” is officially debuting in theaters on Friday, Dec. 1. The film is sure to attract Beyoncé fans from all walks of life, as it gives viewers access to the global superstar that they won’t see anywhere else.

“Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” takes audiences behind the scenes of the creation of Beyoncé’s newest studio album “Renaissance,” as well as the production of the tour dedicated to that album. Her husband Jay-Z and three children Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter all play a part in the film, which also features appearances by Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion.

You can grab tickets to the film now; reviews are calling it a masterful production that harnesses the magic of a live Beyoncé performance. If you’re a Beyoncé fan who didn’t get a ticket to the Renaissance World Tour, this is the best way to see what you missed!

Is Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Streaming?

At the moment, “Renaissance” is not available for fans to stream at home through a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service like Netflix or Max. It’s a theatrical exclusive, so if you want to see the film decked out in your full head-to-toe Beyoncé outfit you’ll have to brave the crowds at cinemas while you do so.

It’s difficult to know where or when the movie will be sent to a streaming service. It’s being distributed by AMC Theaters, in a deal reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s agreement with that chain to offer the movie version of her “Eras” concerts. That means the streaming rights to “Renaissance” could end up with any of the top streaming platforms on the market.

There aren’t many other Beyoncé projects available to stream on-demand, but one that is now playing on a streaming service is 2019’s “Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.” That title is streaming on Netflix, and since it too is a concert documentary film it’s a reasonable assumption that Netflix will be the home of “Renaissance” once it leaves theaters.

When Will ‘Renaissance’ Be Available to Stream?

It could be as many as 70 days before we see "Renaissance" available to stream

It’s also difficult to know how long “Renaissance” will only be in theaters. On the one hand, the time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is usually considered something of a dead zone for theaters; not a lot of people are out at the movies, as the holiday shopping season takes hold.

That could mean the box office for “Renaissance” won’t be large enough to keep it in theaters for an extended period of time. Forty-five days is the industry minimum for films before heading to streaming, but the fact that “Renaissance” is being distributed directly by AMC theaters (not to be confused with the AMC television network) complicates matters. Since the theater chain doesn’t have a streaming service of its own to send the movie to, it may try to keep it in cinemas as long as possible to maximize revenues.

In The Streamable’s opinion, that means that “Renaissance” will be available to stream in 70 days, on or around Monday, March 4. The movie could be available on Netflix (or another streamer) much sooner, but this seems the likeliest outcome given AMC is the primary distributor.

Netflix

Netflix is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 3,000+ movies, 2,000+ TV Shows, and Netflix Originals like Stranger Things, Squid Game, The Crown, Tiger King, and Bridgerton. They are constantly adding new shows and movies. Some of their Academy Award-winning exclusives include Roma, Marriage Story, Mank, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Netflix offers three plans — on 2 device in HD with their “Standard with Ads” ($6.99) plan, on 2 devices in HD with their “Standard” ($15.49) plan, and 4 devices in up to 4K on their “Premium” ($22.99) plan.

Netflix spends more money on content than any other streaming service meaning that you get more value for the monthly fee.
