Is Newest A24 Film ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ Streaming Now? When Will it Be Available to Watch on Max?

If there’s one thing viewers know about A24 movies, it’s to expect the unexpected from the studio. Its latest movie “Love Lies Bleeding” will present audiences with yet another fresh moviegoing experience this weekend, as it officially becomes available in theaters in the United States on March 8, 2024.

“Love Lies Bleeding” follows the story of Lou, a shy gym manager who falls head-over-heels for Jackie, a bodybuilder who works out at her facility on her way to Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to Jackie, however, Lou comes from a family deeply involved in organized crime, and their joining together incites violence and pulls them deep into the family’s criminal web.

Like many other A24 titles, “Love Lies Bleeding has been a hit with critics. It currently sports a 91% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, who praise the pulpy nature of the film and excellent performances from stars like Kristen Stewart, Katy M. O’Brian and Ed Harris.

When Will ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ Be Available to Stream?
As of now, “Love Lies Bleeding” is a theatrical exclusive, and not available on any on-demand streaming platform. A December 2023 deal between A24 and HBO at least makes it a bit easier to answer where “Love Lies Bleeding” will be streaming once it’s done in theaters and on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms which let viewers rent or buy movies that are still in cinemas.
Max will be the first streamer that allows customers to watch “Love Lies Bleeding” on-demand with a subscription. Just when that will happen is a bit of a mystery, however; A24 is not known for following a regular pattern with its theatrical releases. For example, its dark, anxiety-inducing comedy “Beau is Afraid” didn’t become available to stream until 251 days after its April 2023 theatrical premiere, but one of its latest releases “Priscilla” took half that time. “Priscilla” premiered in theaters in October of 2023, and bowed on Max in late February, 119 days after its debut.
For now, The Streamable predicts “Love Lies Bleeding” will be closer to the lower end of that spectrum, and will stream on Max 120 days after its theatrical debut on March 8. Since movies are not usually released to streaming services on a Saturday, we predict that “Love Lies Bleeding” will come to Max on Friday, July 5, 119 days after its initial release in cinemas.
