Max to Exclusively Stream Eight Professional Fighters League MMA Matches Starting in March

The new Bellator Champion Series from the Professional Fighters League will call Max home all year long, with fights scheduled from March to December.

Max is ready to fight. The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streaming service has announced a new agreement with the Professional Fighters League to exclusively stream eight MMA contests from the new Bellator Champions Series. In addition to live fights, the deal will send Bellator-related programming to truTV's new sports block all throughout the year and bring titles and fights from the promotions library to the Max streaming platform.

  • The Bellator Champions Series on Max begins Friday, March 22, and fights continue through December.
  • The first fight will feature a main event of Corey Anderson vs. Karl Moore.
  • Max will also get the full on-demand library from Bellator, including fights, original programming, and more.

This new MMA series will only be available to watch on Max, so cable subscribers hoping to see the fights on TNT or TBS will be disappointed. The good news is, however, each of the fights will be available to stream with any Max subscription plan, and there will be no pay-per-view purchase required; fans will be able to stream each of the contests for as little as $9.99 per month with a Max subscription.

The fights begin Friday, March 22 when Corey Anderson will face Karl Moore in the main event at SSE Arena in Belfast for the first Bellator Champions Series match of the year. The co-main event will see Patricio Pitbull take on Jeremy Kennedy, and the night’s middleweight No. 1 contender bout will feature Fabian Edwards versus Aaron Jeffrey.

In addition to the live fights, Max will import a large library of content from the Bellator Champions Series featuring 300+ events with 3,000 fights, pre and post-fight coverage, and original programming, including legends from the sport like Kimbo Slice, “Rampage” Jackson, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz, Fedor Emelianenko, and the full fight history of Bellator homegrown talent like AJ McKee, Johnny Eblen, Aaron Pico, Michael Chandler, and Michael “Venom” Page.

“We are thrilled to partner with Professional Fighters League to introduce a new live sport to the U.S. Warner Bros. Discovery content portfolio,” WBD streaming executive Josh Walker said. “The addition of Bellator Champions Series offers our viewers an opportunity to experience highly anticipated mixed martial arts, nicely complementing our robust slate of can’t miss programming.”

What Other Sports Are Available to Stream on Max?

Viewers will find a wide variety of sports on Max in the Bleacher Report Sports add-on. The add-on is available to all Max subscribers regardless of plan, and although WBD had planned on making the feature a paid extension of Max plans starting in February, the company kicked those plans down the road and has decided to keep it free to all Max subscribers for the foreseeable future.

The add-on carries NBA, and NHL games that air on TNT and TBS. It will follow the NBA and NHL into the two leagues’ postseasons, so fans will be able to watch the playoffs as well as regular season contests. The B/R add-on is also carrying sports events from truTV, so all 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games airing on a Turner Network or truTV are available to stream on Max.

If the joint venture streaming platform currently being created by Disney, Fox, and WBD really does hit the market this fall as intended, it could include these Bellator Champions Series fights on Max. The streamer will carry all sports on linear channels like ABC, ESPN, TNT, TBS, truTV, and Fox, as well as all events from ESPN+. But when the JV streamer was announced, Max did not have any exclusive sports programming, so it’s not a sure thing that this series of MMA bouts will be made available on the JV platform if it launches on time.

Now this free sports selection is getting a big addition: combat sports in the form of Bellator Champions Series fights presented by Max and the Professional Fighters League. Max isn’t quite ready to compete with ESPN+ and its pay-per-view presentations of UFC and Premier Fight League matches, but it’s still an impressive get for the streamer, and fans will be able to watch all eight contests of this year’s Bellator Champion Series live with any Max subscription. Max is even selling annual plans for 40% off the standard price for a limited time, so now’s the time to sign up if you’re an MMA fan!
