Pluto TV to Launch Free, Around-the-Clock Super Bowl Channel in Anticipation for Super Bowl LVIII

NFL Super Bowl Classics will begin streaming for free on. Thursday, Jan. 18.

With the NFL Playoffs in full swing, there’s no better time to be a football fan, but it’s a long time to wait between games each weekend, so the free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platform Pluto TV is launching a brand-new, exclusive pop-up channel dedicated to getting fans ready for Super Bowl LVIII. NFL Super Bowl Classics will launch on Thursday, Jan. 18, and will only be available through Feb. 21. The linear, around-the-clock channel will feature past Super Bowl games as well as series and specials highlighting the history of the Big Game.

  • Pluto’s new NFL Super Bowl Classics channel will stream previous Super Bowl broadcasts as well as series and specials through Feb. 21.
  • The channel will run Super Bowl-focused programming around the clock starting on Jan. 18.
  • Super Bowl LVIII airs on CBS, which, like Pluto, is owned by Paramount Global.

Super Bowl LVIII will air on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 11 from Las Vegas and since both CBS and Pluto are owned by Paramount Global, there should be a good amount of synergy between the outlets. The NFL Super Bowl Classics channel will broadcast full game replays from Super Bowl history as well as series and documentaries from the award-winning NFL Films library that dive into the legacy of America’s biggest sporting event and entertainment spectacle. The channel will air “The History of the Super Bowl,” which examines the Super Bowl’s origins and how it evolved to become the biggest sporting event in the country. The 24/7 channel will also chronicle some of the biggest Super Bowl moments in history with specials including “Greatest Super Bowl Finishes,” “Ranking Every Super Bowl MVP Performance,” “Craziest Super Bowl Plays of All Time,” and more.

The free, ad-supported streaming service is already the home of the NFL Channel, which not only features an expansive archive of original series, specials, and documentaries, but also includes game-day coverage, full game replays, and original series.

“Thanks to our incredible partners at the NFL, we have the opportunity to offer a window into NFL history and we know audiences will be thrilled, no matter what team they root for,” Pluto TV’s programming EVP Amy Kuessner said. “The addition of ‘NFL Super Bowl Classics’ channel to Pluto TV’s lineup allows fans to discover and relive those unforgettable games and moments in one place- all for free.”

NFL Super Bowl Classics will broadcast Super Bowl games in sequential order with docuseries and other specials mixed into the rotation. In addition to the Big Game airing on CBS on Feb. 11, Paramount Global has more coverage of the Super Bowl as well. As all NFL on CBS matchups are, the game will also be available to stream on Paramount+, but for the first time, there will be a slime-filled alternate telecast airing exclusively on Nickelodeon.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 350 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.

Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.

Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV. You’ll find channels dedicated to “Star Trek,” “CSI,” “Jersey Shore,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”
