Something to Stream Every Day This Week; ‘Monarch,’ ‘House of Kardashian’ Premieres, ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Finale, More
At long last, the strike is over! The largest actors’ union in Hollywood (the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) has agreed to a new three-year contract with top Hollywood studios, meaning that your favorite television series or movie that was in the midst of production when writers and actors walked offsets can now get back to action.
That’s certainly a relief where this column is concerned, though streaming platforms weren’t due to run out of content completely for another few months. In fact, this week’s release schedule features a great lineup of movies and shows, and could reasonably stand up against most other weeks in terms of streaming releases regardless of strikes!

‘BlackBerry’ Series Premiere | AMC+
One of the most fascinating theatrical releases of 2023 is coming to AMC+ as a three-part limited series. It tells the story of an inventor who joins forces with a businessman to unleash the world’s first smartphone onto the marketplace.
“BlackBerry” revels in the success of these two unlikely heroes, and shows their fall in great detail as the introduction of the iPhone devastates the BlackBerry customer base. The movie has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it absolutely the best project about the invention of a phone that you haven’t seen this year.

‘JFK: What the Doctors Saw’ Premiere | Paramount+
In never-before-seen footage, the doctors who tried to save President Kennedy’s life after the events of that fateful November day in 1963 share in vivid detail their indelible memories of what they did and saw in Trauma Room 1. Sixty years after his death, the assassination of JFK still has a grip on the imaginations of many Americans, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death have only lent to the obsession.
New revelations from Secret Service agent Paul Landis have recently arisen which cast the so-called “Lone Gunman” theory even further into doubt. Now, audiences will be able to hear directly from the surgeons who worked on the dying president as to what they saw, and what their expert medical opinions conclude about his death.

‘Brawn: The Impossible Formula One Story' Series Premiere | Hulu
What if someone told you that for the low price of £1, you could find yourself winning a Formula One racing championship? It sounds impossible, but that’s exactly what happened in 2009 when an underfinanced and overly ambitious team of Formula One drivers and support staff took home the World Championship on a less-than-shoestring budget.
Narrated by Keanu Reeves, this four-part docuseries will show fans exactly what it took to translate that low financial threshold into a championship in one of racing’s most prestigious global organizations. Drivers Jenson Button and Ross Brawn will also tell their stories in the documentary series, as it was their on-track contributions that helped the team cross the finish line.

Set in the aftermath of 2014’s “Godzilla,” this new series featuring Kurt Russel centers on two siblings who follow in their father’s footsteps to learn more about the Titans, and the mysterious organization Monarch, which seems to show up wherever these creatures create havoc.
Their investigation leads them to Lee Shaw, a former Army operative whose knowledge about Monarch has kept the organization on edge for more than half a century. Unfathomable secrets will be revealed, and the fundamental way that humans understand their planet will have to be re-examined.

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Series Finale | AMC+
After eight awesome, sometimes jaw-dropping seasons, “Fear the Walking Dead” is coming to a close. The series, which started as a prequel to the original “Walking Dead” series is now running concurrent with that show, and will air its final two episodes on this fateful Sunday evening.
