As the calendar flips from April to May, audiences may feel the affects of last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes bite deeply. May is the traditionally the first month for summer blockbusters to start making their way into theaters, and while titles like “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will bow in cinemas this month, the release schedule is certainly lacking compared to years past.

‘The Brokenwood Mysteries’ Season 10 Premiere | Acorn TV
This quirky, darkly comedic New Zealand mystery follows DI Mike Shepherd, who arrives to the seemingly peaceful town of Brokenwood with a classic car, a country music collection, and an indeterminate number of ex-wives. His assistant, DC Kristin Sims, is a by-the-book investigator 15 years younger than her boss’s car.
With dinosaur fossils discovered in the foothills of Brokenwood, the town is buzzing about the potential boost for tourism. But when an expert paleontologist is found dead the future doesn’t look so rosy. Shepherd and Sims are on the case, but will they be able to dig up enough dirt to find the culprit?

“The Veil” is an explosive, twisting new thriller from FX on Hulu. The series explores the surprising and fraught relationship between two women who play a deadly game of truth and lies on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London.

In the shadows, mission controllers at the CIA and French DGSE must put differences aside and work together to avert potential disaster. It’s a race against the clock, and the consequences of losing could be as widespread as they are deadly.

The final episodes of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” have given fans of the franchise insight into one of the deepest mysteries in the Skywalker saga: how Darth Sidious managed to cheat death and return after his apparent downfall at the hands of a redeemed Anakin Skywalker.
The Empire’s nefarious plan to clone Force-sensitive individuals has trapped Echo in its clutches. She’s got a plan of her own, however, and Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, and Crosshair have infiltrated a high-security Imperial base to help her carry it out. Will they be successful, or will Clone Force 99’s last mission end with defeat to the Empire’s machinations?

To salvage her waning career, legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance is forced to team up with an entitled, outcast television writer named Ava Daniels in this hilariously dark comedy series. The two realize they can create some hysterical jokes together, but they’ll have to suppress the urge to kill each other in the process.
This season, Ava and Deborah will be forced to see what they can accomplish on their own. Deborah fired Ava following the successful release of her new comedy special, convinced that Ava is ready to step out of her shadow and succeed on her own. But if history is any indication, there’s a good chance that Ava may have a stumbling block or two in her path before making it to the top herself.

‘Clarkson's Farm’ Season 3 Premiere | Prime Video
Another year in the life of Diddly Squat Farm, run by Jeremy Clarkson, Britain’s best-known but least-qualified amateur farmer. In an effort to increase his annual profit (£144 last year) he’s diversifying, in the shape of cows, more chickens, and his own restaurant.
This show has something for everyone, whether they love or loathe Clarkson. Fans of the controversial TV personality will love seeing him up to new tricks, while people who can’t stand Clarkson can get gleeful enjoyment from watching him fail at something he assumed he’d be great at with no experience.

‘Star Wars: Tales of the Empire’ Series Premiere | Disney+
Happy Star Wars Day to all who celebrate! Disney+ certainly wants to take part in the festivities and will release this brand-new animated anthology series dedicated to the early days of the Galactic Empire. Fans will see plenty of faces they know, and will learn the beginning of some tales they’ve already seen the end of.
“Tales of the Empire” will follow two main arcs. The first will center on Morgan Elsbeth, the future Imperial Magistrate of Calodan who knew Grand Admiral Thrawn before his rise to one of the Empire’s most feared officers. The second will follow the tale of Bariss Offee, the fallen Jedi who is offered a position as one of the Empire’s first Inquisitors…if she can survive the training.
