Apple TV+ Reveals First Look at Star-Studded “Palm Royale”

Apple TV+ has revealed the first look for its upcoming star-studded series “Palm Royale.” Loosely based on the novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel, the Palm Beach-set series will follow Maxine Simmons as she tries to break into Palm Beach high society in 1969, asking the enduring question: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?”

Kristen Wiig leads the cast as Maxine opposite Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy, and Kaia Gerber with guest appearances from Carol Burnett and Bruce Dern.

“Palm Royale” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with its first three episodes on March 20, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 8.


“Bridgerton” Sets Two-Part Spring Premiere

The secret is out: fan-favorite period drama “Bridgerton” will return this spring on Netflix in a two-part premiere. The first four episodes will debut on the platform on May 16, and the next four will be available on June 13.

Season 2 of the Shondaland series will jump into Penelope and Colin’s romance as Penelope deals with her rift with Eloise (who has found a friend in an unlikely place) and keeps her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Paramount+ Debuts “The Tiger’s Apprentice” Teaser

Paramount+ has released the first teaser for its highly anticipated animated original “The Tiger’s Apprentice,” which premieres exclusively on the platform on Friday, Feb. 2 in the U.S.

Based on the popular children’s book series of the same name by Laurence Yep, the film follows Chinese-American teenager Tom Lee, whose life changes forever when he discovers he is part of a long lineage of magical protectors known as the Guardians. With guidance from a mythical tiger named Hu, Tom trains to take on Loo, an evil force as powerful as a Guardian, as he fights to reunite all twelve Zodiac animal warriors and master his own newly discovered powers.

“Love Is Blind” Gets a Two-Season Renewal

There’s no shortage of love from Netflix. The streamer has renewed its hit unscripted dating series “Love Is Blind” for two more seasons, with its sixth season due out this Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

Season 6 of the series will follow a new group of singles in Charlotte, North Carolina, as they embark on journeys of romance and self-discovery. The all-access series, which first follows singles as they try to find a match without ever seeing each other face-to-face before tracking the weeks from engagement to wedding altar, has been a major hit for the streamer since its debut, with all five previous seasons ranking in its global Top 10.

A premiere date for Season 7 will likely be unveiled after the conclusion of Season 6 (and its reunion).


“Blue Eye Samurai” Renewed for Second Season

Blue Eye Samurai” will strike again.

The critically acclaimed Netflix animated action series has also landed a renewal to little surprise after hitting 2.9 million viewers in its first week of release and quickly becoming a surprise hit for the streamer.

Set in Edo-period Japan, the series follows Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), “a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge.”

The voice cast also includes George Takei, Masi Oka, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, Randall Park, and Kenneth Branagh with supporting cast members Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, Harry Shum Jr., Mark Dacascos, and more.

Details about Season 2, including a premiere date, will be announced later.


Disney+ Docuseries “Choir” Gets Premiere Date

Detroit Youth Choir is just getting warmed up. Disney+ has announced the premiere date for its upcoming “Choir,” which follows the group’s kids as they prepare for the performance of a lifetime.

Directed by two-time Emmy-winner filmmaker Rudy Valdez, the docuseries tracks the choir and its director, Anthony White, following their 2019 appearance on “America's Got Talent” as they work to keep the choir relevant in the city and find their next big opportunity to put them back in the national spotlight.

The six-episode project will take viewers through “the highs and lows of life growing up in Detroit, navigating the challenges of balancing family, school, and athletics, all while pursuing their dreams of taking their talents to the next level and performing on one of the world’s biggest stages.”

“Choir” premieres in full on Disney+ on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
