Netflix Releases Trailer for “The Crown” Season 6, Part 2

Netflix has released the trailer for the second and final half of “The Crown” Season 6, concluding the reign of the award-winning period drama.

Part 2 of the final season, which premiered its first four episodes on Nov. 16, will pick up in the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death as Queen Elizabeth (played by Imelda Staunton) must reflect on her life and legacy and pave the way for her successors, Charles and William.

Dominic West, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Claudia Harrison, Olivia Williams, Bertie Carvel, and Salim Daw make up the rest of the ensemble with Ed McVey, Luther Ford, and Meg Bellamy joining in the final part as Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton, respectively.

The final six episodes of “The Crown” will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 14.


Disney+ Releases First-Look Images for “Renegade Nell”

Disney+ has released the first images for the highly anticipated “Renegade Nell,” its latest Original series from the United Kingdom.

Written and created by BAFTA winner Sally Wainwright (“Happy Valley,” “Gentleman Jack”), the action-adventure-fantasy series stars Louisa Harland as the quick-witted and courageous Nell, a young woman who finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious highwaywoman in 18th Century England. When a magical spirit appears, though, she soon realizes her destiny is bigger than she could have ever imagined.

The series also stars Nick Mohammed, Frank Dillane, Adrian Lester, Alice Kremelberg, Joely Richardson, Pip Torrens, Jake Dunn, Ényì Okoronkwo, Bo Bragason, Florence Keen, and Craig Parkinson.

The eight-episode “Renegade Nell” will premiere in Spring 2024 on Disney+ worldwide.


Paramount+ to Release American Soccer Documentary This Month

American soccer gets the primetime slot at Paramount+, which has announced the release date of its upcoming three-part documentary series “The Billion Dollar Goal.”

Featuring the late acclaimed journalist Grant Wahl, the series will use never-before-seen archival footage, animation, and expert interviews to trace the evolution of soccer in the United States, from its humble beginnings to Paul Galigiuri’s historic 1989 goal that ended a 40-year World Cup qualification drought as the sport struggles for recognition amongst American skeptics.

“The Billion Dollar Goal” will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. on Dec. 11.


Apple TV+ Will Produce “Girls State” Documentary

Following the acclaim of the Emmy-winning documentary “Boys State,” Apple TV+ has announced the follow-up “Girls State.”

Filmmakers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine return as the project follows 500 teenage girls from across Missouri as they gather for a week-long immersive experience as they build a government from the ground up, campaign for office, and form a Supreme Court to weigh the most divisive issues of the day. Timely as ever, the girls must deal with questions of race and gender equality as they confront the complicated paths women must navigate to build political power.

The Apple Original is expected to debut on the platform next year with an official release date yet to be set.


“Godfather of Harlem” Renewed for Season 4

MGM+ has given a Season 4 renewal to its hit crime drama “Godfather of Harlem,” starring Forest Whitaker.

The Oscar winner stars as infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson, who, after returning from 10 years in prison, finds the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. Season 4 will pick up as Bumpy continues his bloody war for control of Harlem, all while contending with the emergence of a new potential rival and grappling with his daughter Elise’s involvement in the Black Panthers.

Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Erik LaRay Harvey, Jason Alan Carvell, and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy will also star with Whitaker as the series continues.

The 10-episode fourth season will begin production in New York City next year with a premiere date yet to be announced.


Apple TV+ Debuts “Criminal Record” Trailer

Apple TV+’s upcoming crime thriller “Criminal Record,” set to debut next month, has released its first trailer.

The eight-episode series stars Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as a duo of brilliant detectives at opposite stages of their careers who are drawn into confrontation over an old murder case after receiving an anonymous phone call.

Charlie Creed-Miles, Dionne Brown, Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore, Zoë Wanamaker, Rasaq Kukoyi, Maisie Ayres, Aysha Kala, Cathy Tyson, and Tom Moutchi make up the ensemble of the British drama.

“Criminal Record” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes premiering on Jan. 10, followed by new episodes weekly through Feb. 21.
