Peacock Acquires Rights for Brit Comedy “Hapless”

Peacock is bringing the British cringe comedy “Hapless” to its platform soon after acquiring the United States rights for the series.

Created by Gary Sinyor and often compared to “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Hapless” stars Tim Downie and revolves around “an obsessive and gaffe-prone journalist for a fictional Jewish newspaper.”

Josh Howie, Lucy Montgomery, and Jeany Spark also star with appearances in its second season by Ronni Ancona, Sally Phillips, Linda Robson, Matt Tebbutt, and Stephen Wight.

The series is currently available on Prime Video in the United Kingdom. Both seasons are expected to come to Peacock before the end of 2023.

Kevin James to Release First Prime Video Comedy Special

As the veteran comedian prepares to head out on the road for a new tour, Kevin James will first make a stop on Prime Video.

The new family-friend stand-up special “Irregardless” from the “King of Queens” actor will debut on the streamer this winter. “Irregardless” marks the third special for James and will touch on the topics of parenting, marriage, and getting older, ranging “from motivating children to put down their video games, to why he doesn’t trust technology, and how many Tater Tots he can fit in his mouth.” The new hour-long set is James’ first for Prime Video and follows his previous sets, 2001’s “Sweat the Small Stuff” and 2018’s “Never Don't Give Up.”

An official date for “Irregardless” will be announced at a later date.
