‘Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made’ to Debut as Original Movie on Disney Plus

Fern Siegel

Stephan Pastis’ bestselling book “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” is now an original Disney+ movie — and it will stream Feb. 7.

First, it premieres at this year’s upcoming Sundance Film Festival in the Kids section.

Tom McCarthy, who directed “The Station Agent,” “Spotlight,” and won the screenplay Oscar for “Spotlight,” co-wrote the movie with Pastis.

“Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” chronicles the adventures of quirky Timmy Failure, who runs a Portland, Oregon, detective agency, Total Failure Inc., with his imaginary partner Total, a 1,500-pound polar bear.
Eleven-year-old Timmy copes with both elementary school and various adults, from his stressed mom to a teacher/enemy. Nothing dissuades him from his charge — to become an ace detective.

The Disney+ movie features Ophelia Lovibond, Kyle Bornheimer, Craig Robinson and Winslow Fegley as Timmy.

Other original series now available on the streamer include: “The Mandalorian,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “Toy Story 4” spinoff series “Forky Asks a Question” and Pixar’s “Sparkshorts.” Another “Toy Story” vet, Bo Peep, will feature in “Lamp Life,” a new Pixar short debuting this year.

Disney+ is available for $6.99 a month. Or, subscribers can opt for a monthly $12.99 bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.
