“Cruel Intentions” | Wednesday, Nov. 1
Based on “Les Liaisons Dangereuses,” “Cruel Intentions” has reached cult classic status in the near-quarter-century since its release. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair star in the sexy drama about two vicious stepsiblings of an elite Manhattan prep school who make a bet to sleep with the new headmaster’s daughter before the start of term.

“Pusher” Franchise | Wednesday, Nov. 1
Great things come in threes, and despite the fact Nicolas Winding Refn’s Danish crime thriller “Pusher” was never meant to have any follow-ups, it got two critically and financially successful ones with “Pusher II” and “Pusher III.” Start with the 1996 original set in the criminal underground of Copenhagen where drug dealer Frank (played by Kim Bodnia), after losing a large amount of money in a drug deal gone wrong, only has a few days to raise the money he owes. Mads Mikkelsen makes his feature film debut opposite Zlatko Burić, Laura Drasbæk, Slavko Labović, Peter Andersson, and more.

“Nightcrawler” | Friday, Nov. 10
Jake Gyllenhaal leads Dan Gilroy’s neo-noir psychological thriller about Lou, a stringer who records violent events late at night and sells the footage to a local TV news station. Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, Bill Paxton, Kevin Rahm, Michael Hyatt, and Ann Cusack co-star. Nine years after its release, the film holds a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.

The 2016 Oscar winner for Best Picture, “Spotlight” shines a light on The Boston Globe’s investigation of the systemic child sex abuse of the Catholic church in the Boston area. Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d’Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, and Billy Crudup lead the bio-drama.
