What’s the Cheapest Way to Watch MLB Spring Training Games?

Viewers can enjoy a wide range of MLB spring training games on Sling TV, which is one of the best values in live TV streaming.

As every sports fan knows, the cost of watching top sports has only gotten more and more expensive. Finding room in your budget to watch all your top teams can be pretty hard nowadays, which is why The Streamable is here to give expert guidance on your best options. With MLB spring training starting on Thursday, Feb. 22, baseball fans who are looking for the cheapest way to watch games should look into Sling TV.

  • Sling TV carries ESPN, which will carry several top spring training matchups, in its base Orange plan.
  • Fans can also find MLB Network and its spring training games in Sling’s Sports Extra pack.
  • Sling is providing new customers with a 50% discount off their first month of service.

How Much Baseball Can You Watch with Sling TV?

Sling TV’s Orange plan carries ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3 in its lineup for all subscribers. ESPN will host several spring training games featuring big-name teams like the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres, and Sling subscribers will have access to each and every one of those contests.

Not enough spring training access, you say? You can watch more MLB spring training games via MLB Network, which is available in Sling’s Sports Extra add-on pack. That package comes with a total of 13 extra channels, including MLB Network and MLB Strike Zone, which takes viewers around the league to look in live on all the top games currently underway.

Once the regular season begins, you can enjoy live baseball games on ESPN through Sling Orange, or with Fox (only available in select Sling markets), FS1 or TBS on Sling Blue. Best of all, customers can easily switch between Sling’s Orange and Blue plans at no cost, or get the channels of both packages in the combined Sling Orange and Blue plan.

How Much is Sling TV?

One of the reasons The Streamable loves Sling TV so much is because of its affordability. The streamer normally costs $40 per month for its base Orange or Blue plans, or customers can get all the channels of both tiers in Sling Orange and Blue for $55 per month.

Customers who want to add the Sports Extra add-on pack for $11 per month will still see their subscription top out at $51 per month (with Sling Orange or Blue) or $66 per month (with Sling Orange and Blue). That’s still much cheaper than most live TV streaming services, and definitely less expensive than the average cable plan.

For a limited time, however, new customers can get 50% off their chosen Sling plan for an entire month. That will cover fans through the entire run of spring training, and drop the cost of a Sling Orange or Blue plan to just $20. Customers who opt for Sling Orange and Blue will see their price slashed from $55 to just $27.50 for the first month. The discount does not apply to the Sports Extra pack, but for as little as $31, you can enjoy a wide variety of MLB spring training games on Sling Orange with the Sports Extra pack.

Sling TV

Sling TV is a live TV streaming service that helps users save money with the option of two distinct plans. The $40/month “Sling Orange” plan offers about 30 channels, including Disney Channel and ESPN. The $40/month “Sling Blue” plan offers about 40 channels, including Fox and NBC local channels.

Sling Blue or Orange+Blue users in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco pay a $5 surcharge because they have access to their local ABC affiliate.

If you subscribe to both plans, you’ll receive a $25 discount (or more depending on the current offer). Sling also offers various “Extra” packs that you can add to your subscription.

Sling is great for the budget-conscious cord cutter who just wants to watch live TV, but doesn’t need the most comprehensive channel selection.
