Hulu to Debut Original Documentary Based on Greta Thunberg’s Life
Sixteen-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg will be the subject of a new Hulu original documentary, whose working title is currently “Greta,” Deadline reports. The documentary will premiere on the streaming service in 2020.
“Greta” will chronicle the teen activist’s life from her early school strike days in Stockholm back in 2018, all the way to parliaments and massive international protests, documenting her mission to make the world understand the dire status of the climate crisis. Sources told Deadline that Hulu came on board awhile back and had been involved behind the scenes negotiations.
Thunberg has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including a fellowship of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, as well as a nomination for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize. She recently made history as the youngest person to be named Time Person of the Year. Thunberg made headlines when her speech — in which she criticized world leaders for their inaction on the climate crisis during the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York City — went viral.
“Greta” joins Hulu’s roster of other human interest original documentaries such as the award-winning “Minding The Gap,” “Ask Dr. Ruth” and “Hillary.”
