‘The Lion King’ Remake Is Now Officially Streaming on Disney Plus

Stephanie Sengwe

Whether they got to to see it theaters or missed it, fans of “The Lion King” will now have 24-hour access to the live-action remake as it is officially available for streaming on Disney+ starting today. The movie, which hit theaters last summer, is a live-action remake of the 1994 original.

The film features a star-studded cast with Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and, of course, the iconic James Earl Jones, who reprised his role as Mufasa.

“The Lion King” will soon be joined by another heavy-hitter on the streaming service as “Toy Story 4,” which makes it’s streaming debut on Feb. 5.

The movie stars a familiar face to Disney+ viewers, Forky, who has been featured in a set of Disney+ shorts, “Forky Asks a Question.” The movie stars Woody, who has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends shows Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

Disney+ launched on Nov. 12 at $6.99 a month after a 7-Day Free Trial, nearly half the price of Netflix ($12.99). The service includes four simultaneous streams, unlimited downloads, 4K streaming across a range of devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android and Web.

The streaming service has a deep catalog including the entire Disney Vault, Pixar and Star Wars libraries, MCU films like “Captain Marvel,” and the entire 30 seasons of The Simpsons.
