Optimum TV Customers Get 2 New Plan Choices with More Channels

The new channel packages from Optimum will include local channels, more popular cable networks and other benefits.

The trend in pay TV at the moment appears to be moving toward smaller channel packages that cost less. DIRECTV, for example, dug in its heels and refused to budge on its insistence that it be allowed to sell slimmed-down channel bundles in its most recent carriage fight with Disney. Optimum, however, is bucking that trend, as it has announced the launch of two new, larger cable channel packages in the coming days.

Key Details:

  • Optimum is creating the “Extra TV” and “Everything TV” packages for sale starting Nov. 4.
  • Each package will carry at least 125 channels and cost $85 per month and up.
  • Viewers will be able to sign up for linear or streaming versions of the plans.

Optimum’s two new plans have been dubbed “Extra TV” and “Everything TV.” They’ll slot in alongside the “Entertainment TV” package from the company, and each comes at a distinct price point with its own distinct lineup of channels.

Optimum’s new packages will go on sale on Nov. 4. The three plans from Optimum will then include:

  • Entertainment TV: Priced at $30 per month, Entertainment TV features 80+ top-rated channels, including A&E, AMC, Comedy Central, Food Network, Great American Family, HGTV, Lifetime, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TLC, and WE tv, available both live and On Demand. With Entertainment TV, customers can watch entertainment, lifestyle and reality TV favorites, plus access award-winning local news content from Optimum’s News 12 service, the preeminent hyperlocal news source across the New York tri-state area, all exclusively on Optimum Stream.

  • Extra TV: Priced at $85 per month, Extra TV features 125+ top-rated channels, including ABC, Bravo, CBS, CNN, Disney Channel, ESPN, Fox News, NBC, and USA Network among others, both live and On Demand, accessible through Optimum Stream and all other traditional cable boxes. This package grants access to top local networks as well as the most popular cable channels available.

  • Everything TV: Priced at $140 per month, Everything TV features 200+ top-rated channels, including Starz Encore, FX Movie Channel (FXM), and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), as well as action-packed sports channels like NFL Network, YES Network, SNY, MSG Network, and more, both live and On Demand, accessible through Optimum Stream and all other traditional cable boxes. Regional sports networks, local channels, and movie networks galore; this is definitely the best choice for big TV fans.

Viewers will be able to sign up to these new Optimum plans through linear cable, or through the Optimum Stream service. This live TV streamer can currently be accessed by all Optimum internet customers in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and is expanding to areas in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia as well.
