Philo Unveils Updated Look, Calls New Interface ‘A Better Way to TV’

Philo wants to simplify customer interaction with its service and various TV offerings.

Philo now comes with a fresh new look it has dubbed "A better way to TV"

It seems like it’s never been more complicated to stream video. Customers have to know the difference between on-demand and live streaming, between subscription services and free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels, and much more every day. It’s a lot to keep up with, which is why Philo spent a considerable amount of time working on its newly unveiled rebrand, which it hopes will help viewers spend more time watching the shows and movies they want to see most.

Key Details:

  • Philo partnered with brand studio Sibling Rivalry to create its upgraded look.
  • The goal is to provide a unified experience with live channels, free content, and on-demand options.
  • Philo offers around 70 channels, another 90 free streaming networks, and AMC+ access for $28 per month.
Philo still delivers all the same channels and content, but hopefully in a simpler way.

The refreshed look from Philo was first teased by the company in early September. It has teamed up with the brand studio and production company Sibling Rivalry for an interface and logo scheme that blends past traditions with future aspirations.

“Our goal was to clarify and amplify what makes Philo so special, setting the stage for the company’s continued growth as an entertainment brand,” said Bo Bishop, Executive Director of Creative Strategy at Sibling Rivalry.

One of the biggest goals Philo had in executing this design overhaul was to simplify things for users. While researching the best strategies for the upgraded look of Philo, it found that customers struggled with knowing what types of content were available with the service, and how to access them all.

The company decided to leverage these seemingly disparate assets into a strength, streamlining its user experience to make it simpler to find the content on AMC+ — which comes free with every new Philo subscription — or to look up the dozens of FAST channels available with the service.

“Philo’s bold new visual approach lands at a thrilling time for the brand,” Philo’s head of brand and creative strategy Matt Stein said. “Our audience-centric focus has driven the platform into new and exciting territories—including the rapid expansion of FAST channels and premium services, all under one roof. Our strategy has been to reimagine what a modern streaming service can be for today’s viewers and to make the experience easy, and joyful.”

New customers can sign up for a Philo subscription for $28 per month, after a seven-day free trial. The service comes with 70+ cable channels, including nearly 20 of The Streamable’s top networks such as A&E, Hallmark Channel, History, Lifetime, and Paramount Network, which will come in handy when new episodes of “Yellowstone” return in November. Customers also get free access to AMC+ and all of its content with a Philo subscription.
