Revolutionize Your Football Watching With NFL+’s New All-22 Next-Gen Stats Feature
NFL Pro will allow football lovers to dive more deeply into the game than ever before.
The NFL+ streaming service is getting a significant upgrade ahead of the 2024-25 regular season, especially for diehard football fans. The platform already carries livestreams of nationally broadcast games, a livestream of NFL Network, and more, but stat-heads who love to break down game film have never had public access to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, which can be incredibly useful in measuring individual and team performances. That is changing with the launch of NFL Pro on NFL+, which will allow fans and analysts to watch tape All-22 coaches tape cross-referenced with stats to paint the fullest picture yet.
Key Details:
- NFL Pro allows viewers to watch All-22 film enhanced with Next Gen Stats.
- Next Gen Stats have existed since 2016, but the public has never had a way to access them before.
- NFL Pro is available in the NFL+ Premium plan.
The NFL+ streaming service was already the best outlet for finding All-22 film even before the launch of NFL Pro. This unique vantage point provides a bird’s eye view that allows viewers to see every player on the field from the start of the play through its end; for that reason, it is highly popular among coaches, analysts, and regular fans who love to dissect the game.
NFL Pro brings an extra layer to that All-22 film, allowing viewers access to Next Gen Stats for the first time. These advanced metrics were first created by the league in 2016, but they’ve never been publicly available. If you want to look up how many times a player has blitzed from a particular position on the field in a season, you can now see that. Need to cross-reference your quarterback’s latest throw with his completion percentage over expected? It’s at your fingertips with NFL Pro.
“We’ve never really given fans the opportunity to play with the sort of wide swash of data that we have,” the NFL’s director of research and analytics Bill Smith told the Wall Street Journal. “It’s really, really leveled up what we’ve done in the past from a product perspective and what we’ve made available to fans.”
The rollout comes amidst a time of uncertainty for the long-term future of NFL Media. The league is still looking for strategic partnerships with its media properties; in May, it was reported that the NFL was deep in talks with ESPN about allowing that channel to take over operations of NFL Network. There have been no public updates on a potential deal since, but the NFL is likely still considering all options.
What Else Can You Watch on NFL+?
NFL+ isn’t quite the all-in-one football streaming service fans would want most, but it’s still a great way to access games without a cable subscription. The standard NFL+ subscription costs $6.99 per month and allows viewers to stream nationally broadcast games appearing on channels like ESPN on tablets or phones. It also allows for out-of-market streams of preseason games, and comes with a livestream of NFL Network, along with live game audio from every regular season matchup and more.
The NFL+ Premium tier costs $14.99 per month and includes all the features on the lower-priced tier. However, it also comes with all the new content of NFL Pro, full game and condensed game replays, and a livestream of NFL RedZone during the regular season. It’s the cheapest way to access RedZone currently available.
The 2024 NFL regular season starts on Thursday, Sept. 8 with a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens. Fans now have a new way to break down that game and every other NFL contest of the regular season using NFL Pro on NFL+ Premium.
