When you think of Adam Sandler, you might think of “Billy Madison” or “Happy Gilmore”, but the veteran actor put on one of his best performances in “Uncut Gems” last November. The film follows Howard (Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler, always on the lookout for the next big score makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime.

The movie also stars Idina Menzel, Kevin Garnett, and a breakout performance by Julia Fox. The film, which was written and direct by the Sadfie Brothers, was A24’s highest-grossing film with over $50 million in box office sales.

The movie has a 92% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and many thought Sandler deserved an Oscar nod for his role has Howard. Sandler won the Independent Spirit Award for “Best Male Lead”, while Benny and Josh Sadfie won for “Best Director”.
