Smithsonian Networks announced that they are launching a new streaming service called Smithsonian Channel Plus. The service combines content from the their linear Smithsonian Channel and their VOD service Smithsonian Earth for $5 a month.
Current Smithsonian Earth subscribers will get be able to stream the new content for their current $4 a month fee.
Streaming services are not new for Smithsonian. In addition to launching Smithsonian Earth three years ago, they’ve distributed their linear channel though major streaming services

The new service will expand on just nature and wildlife to include space, science, travel, and pop-culture. Most programming will be available in HD, with some content in 4K.
All programming will be ad-free and you can stream via the Smithsonian Channel app on Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Android TV, iOS, Android, and Web. You can sign-up for a free trial on their website or Amazon Channels.
