Viewers have likely had this week circled on the calendar for some time, as several high-demand series will return with new episodes.
Here’s to the death of Peak TV Season. The advent of streaming has meant that providers can totally toss out the traditional TV calendar, which is all the more useful for viewers stuck inside as oppressive heat settles in for some parts of the United States.

‘Origin’ Streaming Premiere | Hulu
Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay assumed both writing and directing duties for “Origin,” which follows the author Isabel Wilkerson as she compiles her book “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents,” one of the most detailed treatises on racism and the history of global oppression ever penned.

First consulted for her opinion after the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Wilkerson explores themes of racism and bigotry and delves deeply into history for greater context surrounding these issues. She discovers that many of Nazi Germany’s racial codes were used as inspiration for laws in the United States, and as she continues to work on her book she makes even more startling discoveries that every citizen of the country should know about.

This new series details the fascinating, and often funny, inside story of the technology-driven shift that changed music during the late-90s and early-2000s. Fresh off his turn in the new reboot of “Road House,” Jake Gyllenhaal is taking on a decidedly different role. “Presumed Innocent,” based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow, follows the story of a gruesome murder that becomes personal for the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of their own is a suspect in the crime.
The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together. If you think you’ve figured out where the story is going next, chances are you’re dead wrong.

The newest season of “The Boys” will see the world teetering on the edge of disaster. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to capturing the White House, aided by her super consort Homelander, who has fully embraced his role as her enforcer and is a threat to the freedom of everyone who disagrees with her.
Billy Butcher has lost Becca’s son, as well as his position as the leader of The Boys. There’s no more patience for Butcher’s bag of bull amongst the team, but they also realize his importance, especially considering he has mere months to live. Will they be able to put aside their animosities and save the world again?

“Monkey Man” is written and directed by Dev Patel, who also stars as Kid, a young man who scrapes by a living as a member of an underground fighting ring. Once he’s on the inside, Kid begins his long-planned revenge. Danielle C. Ryan and Rafael Kariotakis star in the newest Hallmark original romance. To clear her head, she plans a vacation to Greece, where she intends to completely disconnect for a few days and recharge.
While there she meets Theo, a handsome local with a great deal of ambition. The two decide to open a restaurant together, and while they labor to bring the new eatery to life the pair grows ever closer.
