If you need a break from all that, or from the existential dread that comes along with the passage of linear time, there are some fabulous new TV shows and movies making their streaming debuts this week! Eurovision 2024 Song Contest | Peacock
For almost 70 years, Europeans from every corner of the continent have been glued to their televisions each May for the annual European Song Contest. When it began in 1956, the live, transnational broadcast was not just a way to bring war-torn Europe back together, it was a technological marvel.
This year will see competitors from 37 different countries from Europe and beyond attempt to win it all. The songs must be original and be three minutes or shorter in runtime, and no more than six performers are allowed onstage for any performance. The winner of Eurovision is decided by two forms of voting — a jury of five music industry experts from each country, and live votes cast by viewers, who can make their voices heard and vote by telephone, SMS, or via the official Eurovision app.
