New “Squid Game” Season 2 Teaser Out Now

Welcome, players. Netflix has released a new teaser for its highly anticipated second season of “Squid Game.” Lee Jung-jae returns for Season 2 as the first season’s victor Seong Gi-hun. Now three years after winning the Game and the massive jackpot that comes with it, Player 456 has given up his plans of going to the United States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind, once again diving into the mysterious life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of ₩45.6 billion.

Also reprising their roles are Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, with new cast members including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an. “Squid Game” Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 26.


“The Simpsons” to Produce Four Disney+ Exclusives

Ahead of its 36th season this fall on Fox, “The Simpsons” is giving its Disney+ streaming home first dibs at some of its new episodes. At this weekend’s D23 convention, executive producers of the long-running animated series announced four episodes of the upcoming season will air exclusively on the streamer. The new episodes include a new Christmas-themed two-parter, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” which will premiere on Tuesday, Dec. 17, the 35th anniversary of the very first “Simpsons” episode in 1989. This will be the first time “The Simpsons” has produced a full-length episode exclusively for Disney+.

Release dates for the other two episodes, “The Past and the Furious” and “Yellow Planet,” will be announced later. Additionally, a new “Simpsons” Halloween short will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in October, joining its collection of streamer-exclusive shorts including “The Force Awakens from Its Nap,” “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki,” and more.” The first 34 seasons of the long-running animated series are currently available to stream on Disney+. Season 35 will arrive on the platform on Wednesday, Oct. 2.


Peacock Releases “Hysteria!” Teaser

Peacock has opened the gates of Hell and released the first teaser for its upcoming original series “Hysteria!” Set during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, “Hysteria!” centers on a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who, after a beloved varsity quarterback disappears, realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band. However, a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported supernatural events triggers a witch hunt that leads back to the band.

The series stars Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, and Nikki Hahn with Bruce Campbell, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti, and Jessica Treska appearing in recurring guest roles. The eight-episode first season of “Hysteria!” will premiere in full on Friday, Oct. 18. Additionally, both USA Network and Syfy will air the finale, with USA airing subsequent episodes on Friday nights.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” Comes to Max

The saga rides on over at Max. Following its theatrical window after its May 24 premiere, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will make its global streaming debut this Friday, Aug. 16 exclusively on the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer.

Anya Taylor-Joy leads the cast of George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel and the fifth installment of his 40-year “Mad Max” franchise as Furiosa, who was snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). As they sweep through the Wasteland and come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe, the two tyrants fight for dominance and Furiosa must survive to find her way home.

In addition to Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, the critically acclaimed film, which brought home $172.8 million at the worldwide box office, also stars Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Josh Helman, Charlee Fraser, Elsa Pataky, and more.


“The Drew Carey Show” Now Streaming For First Time

The crude attitude is back where it belongs: Nearly 20 years to the date since its series finale aired in September 2004, “The Drew Carey Show” is for the first time available on streaming platform, with all nine seasons now available to watch on free streamer Plex.

This is the first time the hit ABC multi-camera sitcom, which ran from 1995 to 2004 with 233 episodes over nine seasons, has been accessible online since it went off the air two decades ago. Created by Carey and Bruce Helford, “The Drew Carey Show” centered on Cleveland-based everyman Drew and his home and retail work life. The ensemble also starred Diedrich Bader, Ryan Stiles, Christa Miller, Kathy Kinney, and Craig Ferguson, with later-season additions including John Carol Lynch and Cynthia Watros.


“Supacell” Renewed at Netflix

Back for more action: the hit superhero Netflix series “Supacell” has officially been renewed for a second season. Created by Raplman in his TV debut, the Brit hit is set in modern-day South London and follows a group of five ordinary Black people unified by a family history of sickle cell disease who unexpectedly develop superpowers and are pursued by a secret organization that intends to control them.

Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Calvin Demba, and Josh Tedeku lead the series opposite Eddie Marsan, Adelayo Adedayo, Ghetts, Digga D, and more. The first season of “Supacell” premiered on June 27 and has reportedly been in Netflix’s internal top 10 list of English-language series since its debut. A Season 2 premiere date will be announced later.


Netflix’s “Penelope” Sets Premiere Date

The date is set for Netflix’s new coming-of-age series “Penelope,” co-created by Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn. The new series from Duplass Brothers Productions is officially scheduled to premiere on the streamer on Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the U.S.

Per the official logline, the indie-financed “Penelope” stars Megan Stott (“Little Fires Everywhere”) as the title 16-year-old, who, feeling deeply out of place in her contemporary surroundings, leaves her life and family behind and treks into the wilds of Washington State. The cast includes Austin Abrams, Krisha Fairchild, Rhenzy Feliz, and more.

The pilot for “Penelope” premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The full eight-episode series will begin streaming on Netflix on Sept. 24.
