Top 7 Shows Streaming on Disney+ Right Now:
No. 7: “The Mandalorian” (2019– ) | Action-Adventure, Space Western
Maybe Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian” has lost its Way a little since its first season, but the first live-action “Star Wars” series, which premiered with the launch of Disney+ in 2019, has been an established hit for the streamer for a reason (beyond just the cuteness and marketability of “Baby Yoda”), pairing action-packed storylines with groundbreaking effects. Pedro Pascal, proving he has chemistry with anybody and anything, stars as the title bounty hunter who takes it upon himself to protect the Force-sensitive child Din Grogu from remnant Imperial forces.
“The Mandalorian” holds a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. A fourth season may or may not be on the way, but a feature follow-up, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” is for sure. The series also stars Katee Sackhoff, Werner Herzog, Omid Abtahi, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Amy Sedaris, and the late great Carl Weathers.
The Mandalorian
After the fall of the Galactic Empire, lawlessness has spread throughout the galaxy. A lone gunfighter makes his way through the outer reaches, earning his keep as a bounty hunter.
No. 6: “Doctor Who” (2024– ) | Sci-Fi, Adventure, Drama
Yes, is it sometimes cheesy? For all eternity, in every timeline. It’s technically a children’s show, after all. But children at heart know to lean into the camp and enjoy the (TARDIS) ride. The long-running British sci-fi adventure series is now in its Disney+ era and its 15th Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa. Don’t let the series’ Rotten Tomatoes audience approval fool you: the newest incarnation is as magnetic and charming as ever.
Russell T. Davies is back as the showrunner and Millie Gibson co-stars as companion Ruby Sunday with guest stars ranging from Indira Varma to Jinkx Monsoon. New “Who” holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Doctor Who
The Doctor and his companion travel across time and space encountering incredible friends and foes.
No. 5: “Star Wars: Andor” (2022– ) | Sci-Fi, Action-Adventure
“Andor” had a lot to compete with in the shadow of “The Mandalorian,” but in one season, the 2022 show, starring Diego Luna as thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor, has quickly eclipsed its predecessor as the best live-action “Star Wars” series. Luna reprises his role from “Rogue One” in the prequel series, which takes place in the five years before, exploring how the thief-turned-rebel spy was radicalized against the Galactic Empire. The show’s second season (due next year) will be its last, but Andor—both show and character—have always been clear-eyed about the future.
“Andor” was created by Tony Gilroy and holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It also stars Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, and more.
Star Wars: Andor
In an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue, Cassian Andor will discover the difference he can make in the struggle against the tyrannical Galactic Empire. He embarks on a path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
No. 4: “WandaVision” (2021) | Multi-Genre, Superhero
Marvel Studios doesn’t need to choose a favorite child, but its first, the much-discussed (and much-sung) “WandaVision” tends to top everybody else’s list, buoyed by top-notch tropes, homages, parodies, and performances. Set after the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Wanda and Vision go somewhere that’s green as they set up the ideal suburban life in idyllic New Jersey (not an oxymoron)… until reality starts moving through the airwaves and decades of sitcom stylings. If you’re planning on watching “Agatha All Along,” don’t touch that dial before you finish “WandaVision.”
“WandaVision” holds a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was created by Jac Schaeffer and stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, as well as Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, and Evan Peters also starring.
WandaVision
Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
No. 3: “Gravity Falls” (2012–2016) | Animation, Mystery-Comedy
The only thing going against Disney Channel’s near-perfect “Gravity Falls” is it only has two seasons, and fans of the mystery comedy series have had to process all five stages of grief several times over. Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal lead the voice cast as twins Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are sent to spend the summer with their great-uncle in Gravity Falls, a mysterious Oregon town continuously rocked by the paranormal and supernatural. Creator Alex Hirsch was insistent the show had reached its natural conclusion, but the rest of us think there are some unsolved mysteries.
“Gravity Falls” holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The voice cast also stars Alex Hirsch, Linda Cardellini, and J.K. Simmons.

No. 2: “X-Men '97” (2024– ) | Animation, Action-Adventure, Superhero
This year's "X-Men '97" had a nearly impossible task: revive an already-iconic animated series without it feeling like a rehash, money grab, or insult to the beloved original. Mission accomplished: the revival, which has at least two more seasons in development, is as fresh and smart as ever with plenty of nostalgia still packed into every punch, blast, or scratch.
“X-Men ‘97” was created by Beau DeMayo and holds a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Original series stars Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Cal Dodd (Wolverine), George Buza (Beast), and Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler) reprise their roles from the original series with Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alyson Court, Lawrence Bayne, and Ron Rubin also back in new roles. The rest of the ensemble stars Ray Chase (Cyclops), Jennifer Hale (Jean Grey), J. P. Karliak (Morph), Lenore Zann (Rogue), A. J. LoCascio (Gambit), Holly Chou (Jubilee), Isaac Robinson-Smith (Lucas Bishop), Matthew Waterson (Magneto), and Ross Marquand (Professor X).
X-Men ‘97
The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.
No. 1: “The Muppet Show” (1976–1981) | Variety, Comedy
Every corner of entertainment and culture has been touched by and improved upon by The Muppets, which somehow packaged absurdism, surrealism, burlesque and vaudeville, and sketch comedy and gave it the fuzziest of faces. Host/overworked showrunner Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Pepe, Rizzo, Rowlf, and the rest of Jim Henson’s cast of weird little creatures truly took on a life of their own, and despite the talents of their puppeteers (including Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, Richard Hunt, and more), the Muppets are indeed the show.
“The Muppet Show” holds a well-deserved 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s time to raise the curtain.
