Gabrielle Union and AGC Studios romantic comedy “The Perfect Find,” based on Tia Williams’ 2016 novel by the same name, is reportedly headed to Netflix.
According to Deadline, Union will star in it and produce through her production company I’ll Have Another, and Numa Perrier (“Jezebel”) will direct.
Union plays Jenna Jones, “a woman hopeful that her new job in beauty journalism will rep a fresh start in her life,” Deadline reported. Jones has a “frenemy” relationship with her new boss, and gets in a relationship with company videographer Eric before learning he is her boss’ son.
Leigh Davenport (“Boomerang”) adapted the book for the silver screen.
Confluential Films’ Jeff Morrone, Tommy Oliver and Codie Elaine Oliver are also producing, according to Deadline, and AGC’s Stuart Ford and Glendon Palmer as well as I’ll Have Another’s Holly Shakoor Fleischer will get executive producer credits.
Perrier’s “Jezebel” – in which she also co-starred – premiered at SXSW last year and later streamed on Netflix.
In May, the platform announced a number of new deals for upcoming movies. Those include the superhero romantic comedy-type flick “Ball and Chain” – which stars Emily Blunt (“Mary Poppins”) and Dwayne Johnson (“Jumanji: The Next Level”) – as well as a seven-figure deal with Mark Wahlberg for secret agent film “Our Man From Jersey.”
