Fox executive chairman and CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced that Tubi “surpassed 200 million hours streamed per month” in June during their Q4 2020 earnings call on Tuesday. Murdoch said it represented “more than 100% growth year-over-year” with “The Masked Singer” being their #1 streamed series.
“Tubi’s young and diverse audience gives it a unique appeal with advertisers seeking to connect with consumers that are traditionally more challenging to reach,” Murdoch said. “Tubi complements Fox portfolio and underscores our long-term strategic initiative to broaden and enhance direct-to-consumer digital reach and engagement, while providing advertising partners with more opportunities to engage audiences at scale.”
In May, Murdoch said Tubi generated a “total viewing time of over 200 million hours” in April. The figure was up more than 150 percent versus the last year. He added that Fox expects to “drive long-term growth in the direct-to-consumer market” through Tubi.
In February, the free, ad-supported service announced that they reached 25 million monthly active users back in December.
In March, Fox Corp, the parent company of Fox, FS1, Fox News and Fox Business, acquired Tubi for $440 million. The deal is the largest acquisition for a free ad-supported streaming service.
