What Time Will Episodes of ‘Industry’ Air Now That ‘The Penguin’ Is Coming to HBO, Max?

‘Industry’ has heretofore arrived on HBO at 9 p.m. ET, but that will change thanks to ‘The Penguin.’

Industry will have to make way for The Penguin as the two shows are currently slated for the same linear time slot.

Surely the characters of a title like “Industry” wouldn’t object to a little intra-company betrayal, would they? “Betrayal” might be a strong word, but at the very least it can be said that “Industry” is being forced to show a lot of deference to “The Penguin.” The new crime thriller set in the DC Comics universe debuts on HBO and Max on Thursday, Sept. 19, but will impact when you can watch “Industry” on Sundays. The prestige drama is shifting time slots to make room for “The Penguin,” and we’ve got all the details you need to follow the show to its new time below.

Key Details:

  • The final two episodes of “Industry” are still set to air on Sept. 22 and Sept. 29, respectively.
  • The show is shifting from a 9 p.m. ET start time to 10 p.m. on those days.
  • “Industry” will still debut at 9 p.m. ET on Max.

HBO notified The Streamable via email that it was doing some shuffling to accommodate “The Penguin,” which could be the next big prestige TV hit for Warner Bros. Discovery. The show has already compiled a 90% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and has generated significant buzz from audiences.

Previously, “Industry” Season 3 episodes premiered in the vaunted 9 p.m. ET timeslot on HBO and Max on Sunday nights; that time has traditionally been reserved for heavy-hitting HBO headliners like “Succession” and “House of the Dragon.”

The issue is that the start of “The Penguin” will overlap with the last two episodes of “Industry,” and there’s no doubting which series HBO wants in its headlining timeslot. That means “Industry” has to move, which it will do starting on Sunday, Sept. 22, when its air time on linear HBO will shift to 10 p.m. ET. The Season 3 finale on Sept. 29 will also move to a 10 p.m. start time.

The good news for fans who don’t want to wait an extra hour is that they can still stream the last two episodes of “Industry” Season 3 on Max at 9 p.m. ET as they’ve been able to do with every other episode this season.

“The Penguin” will make its series debut on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Max. The show will re-air its premiere episode on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on HBO, then present its second episode on Sept. 29 in the same timeslot and continue to air new episodes exclusively on Sunday evenings from there. Max will unlock both “The Penguin” and “Industry” new episodes at 9 p.m. on Sept. 29.

A switch in timeslots used to mean a show was destined for the scrap heap, but that is not the case for “Industry.” The show picked up a fourth-season renewal on Thursday, hopefully placating any angry fans over the timeslot bump.
