Crunchyroll launches app on Xfinity and Xumo devices
The app will allow Xfinity streaming device and Xumo smart TV owners to watch Crunchyroll without another connected player.
The anime streaming service Crunchyroll has made some incredible strides in recent years. In August, the streamer announced it had surpassed 15 million paid subscribers, and in late October it launched on YouTube TV's Primetime Channels, giving it a new way to distribute its app to anime-hungry customers. The streamer is boosting its distribution efforts yet again, announcing on Tuesday that its app is now available on Xfinity and Xumo streaming devices for the first time.
Key Details:
- The Crunchyroll app can now be found on the Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex and Xumo Stream Box.
- The app is also available on smart TVs using the Xumo operating system.
- Crunchyroll offers more than 50,000 episodes, totaling more than 25,000 hours of content.
Subscribers who have a Crunchyroll account can now access it on the Xfinity Flex or X1 cable box/streaming players, as well as the Xumo Stream Box. The app is also available on Xumo-branded smart TVs that use the joint venture Xumo operating system commissioned by Comcast and Charter Communications.
“We’re excited to bring Crunchyroll to Comcast’s entertainment devices, expanding the availability of our extensive anime library for Xfinity and Xumo customers to enjoy their favorite anime,” Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said. “Whether they’re longtime anime enthusiasts or newcomers, viewers can now easily discover and enjoy our vast catalog of series and films. This collaboration marks a significant step in making anime even more accessible to fans across the U.S.”
Crunchyroll is an anime lover’s dream service, with more than 50,000 individual episodes across 2,000 series to watch. It offers 25,000+ hours of total content, including subtitled and overdubbed options of many popular shows. It’s bringing over 40 new titles to its library this fall and winter alone, including “Dragon Ball Daima,” the 25th anniversary season of “One Piece,” and more.
“With the launch of Crunchyroll on our platforms, customers can now enjoy some of the best and most popular anime programming directly alongside all the other movies and TV shows they love,” Comcast VP Sudhir Muralidhar said. “Anime has been exploding in popularity here in the U.S., so Crunchyroll is a great addition to the growing catalog of streaming apps available across our platforms.”
It’s easy to find Crunchyroll within the Xfinity or Xumo interfaces; simply search for it manually, or say “Crunchyroll” into your voice remote to find it.
