Fubo Rolls Out Unlimited Cloud DVR for New, Existing Customers
The live TV service promised in January that viewers would get a boost in their DVR recordings to soften the blow of a price increase.
Running out of recording space is one of the top fears of the live TV streaming customer. As busy adults, viewers are often forced to record a new episode of their favorite show, or even to tape a live sports game and dodge social media all day to avoid spoilers until they can hurry home to watch the contest via their DVR. Fubo subscribers formerly had to grapple with this issue, as the service did not offer unlimited Cloud DVR storage to customers. But The Streamable has confirmed that Fubo has followed through on an earlier promise to begin offering unlimited Cloud DVR to new and existing subscribers.
Key Details:
- Fubo first pledged to roll out unlimited DVR in January, after raising prices for all of its plans by $5.
- The streamer is also creating a free tier for existing and past customers to boost engagement.
- Fubo recently agreed to a new carriage deal to keep Bally Sports channels available for multiple years.

A Fubo spokesperson has confirmed to The Streamable that all customers on English and Spanish-language plans will see unlimited Cloud DVR become available soon, if they don’t have it already. Viewers can now add unlimited shows and movies to their recording section, with the ability to skip commercials and keep those recordings for as long as they want.
Previously, Fubo offered customers 1,000 hours of Cloud DVR storage space. Legacy subscribers got even less; viewers who signed up for Fubo’s old Standard plan got access to just 30 hours of DVR, and Starter plan subscribers got 250 hours. The Streamable has reached out to Fubo to see if these customers will also get unlimited DVR, and will update this article if/when we receive a response.
Fubo first promised customers unlimited DVR as a way to lessen the sting of a price increase. In January, Fubo raised prices by $5 per month on all existing plans, after reaching an agreement with Nexstar to continue retransmitting local affiliate stations owned by that company.
What Else is New for Fubo?
Fubo customers will be able to enjoy a new, specially-curated selection of hundreds of free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels called “Fubo Free.” Last week, Fubo confirmed to The Streamable that Fubo Free would roll out “in the coming weeks,” and would be available to current and former Fubo subscribers, as well as viewers who signed up for a free trial of Fubo but canceled before becoming paid customers.
There were more headlines generated by Fubo last week, as the streamer agreed to a new multi-year carriage deal with Diamond Sports Group. That deal will ensure that Fubo viewers will continue to have access to any Bally Sports-branded regional sports networks available in their area; Fubo is one of the only live TV streaming services to carry these channels.
Fubo is drawing closer and closer to the 2 million subscriber threshold, and the addition of unlimited Cloud DVR could help bring even more viewers to the service. Unlimited digital recording capability is making its way to existing customers this week, and new customers will notice they don’t have to worry about running out of DVR space when they sign up.
