About “I Saw the TV Glow”
Written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun (“We're All Going to the World's Fair”), “I Saw the TV Glow” is set in 1996 and follows two isolated teenage students, Owen (Lundy-Paine) and Maddy (Smith), bonded by “The Pink Opaque,” a young adult TV show that follows a pair of teens who use their psychic connection to fight Mr. Melancholy, a villain who has the power to warp time and reality. The bizarre and mysterious late-night show, “a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own,” leads Owen to question his own view of reality as Maddy goes missing and the cracks begin to show.
The cast also stars Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler and is produced by Emma Stone, Dave McCary, Ali Herting, Sam Intili, and Sarah Winshall.
“I Saw the TV Glow” premiered in the Midnight section at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before being released in select U.S. theaters on May 3.
