Hulu + Live TV Ditching NASA Channel Next Month; How to Stream Space-Themed Content Free

Viewers who are saddened by the loss of NASA TV can find plenty of content from the space exploration body on NASA+.

Hulu + Live TV will no longer carry the NASA channel as of Aug. 28.

There will soon be one less channel to enjoy on Hulu + Live TV. The live TV streaming service began notifying customers over the weekend that starting next month, the NASA channel would be disappearing from their channel lineups. The good news is, fans of space exploration can find a huge range of content available on the NASA+ streaming platform which launched last year at no cost.

Key Details:

  • The NASA channel is disappearing from Hulu + Live TV on Aug. 28.
  • If the channel leaves more distributors in the near future, it could be a sign that NASA plans to shut it down.
  • NASA+ carries archival footage from missions, original documentaries, and more.
This notice sent to Hulu + Live TV subscribers has more details about the disappearance of NASA+.

The NASA channel will be pulled from Hulu + Live TV airwaves starting Wednesday, Aug. 28. Viewers who are interested in science and nature can still find selections like National Geographic and Discovery on the service, and can also find on-demand content from National Geographic on Disney+ thanks to the free inclusion of the Disney Bundle with most Hulu + Live TV plans.

It will bear watching to see what happens with the NASA channel in the coming months. If it continues to be pulled from channel guides of other cable distributors, it may be that NASA intends to shut down the channel for good. If it remains available elsewhere, it will be more likely that NASA and Hulu executives simply could not agree on a carriage fee number for the channel.

Where to Watch NASA Content Now

NASA+ has a great selection of NASA content for fans to enjoy, and it's all free!

If the NASA channel was one of your top go-to choices on Hulu + Live TV, there’s still a way to access some of the space organization’s best video content: NASA+. The streaming service launched in 2023 as a way to bring enthusiasts more content from NASA, including live mission updates, archival footage, original documentaries, and other educational programming.

NASA+ is completely free to watch, either through the NASA app or on the organization's website. The presence of the streamer is one reason I’m keeping an eye out to see if the NASA channel is sunset in the coming months; a government organization like NASA always has an eye on its budget, and the accountants may feel it’s not a great use of resources to operate a linear channel and streaming platform at the same time, especially when more and more audiences are cutting the cord.

Space fans will love the convenience of NASA+, which is available on most smart TVs and mobile devices. The loss of the NASA channel will be a bummer for Hulu + Live TV subscribers, but NASA+ offers an excellent way to keep up with everything new at NASA and to enjoy a wide range of space-related content at no cost.
