ViacomCBS Plans Broader Streaming Service as OTT Subs Reach 11MM and Pluto TV Hits 22 Million Users

Stephanie Sengwe

In their Q4 2019 earnings report released today, ViacomCBS said it will launch a new “House of Brands” streaming service (the official name of the service wasn’t announced), which will be an expansion of CBS All Access. “The ‘differentiated’ service is set to combine sports, news live viewing and the full breadth and depth of the company’s expanded portfolio across demos, genres and geographies,” Deadline said.

ViacomCBS also announced its paid domestic subscribers for services such as CBS All Access and Showtime OTT hit 11 million. During the earnings call, ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish said that CBS All Access and Showtime “are on track to garner a combined 16 million subscribers by year’s end,” according to Variety.

ViacomCBS also announced today that Pluto TV saw even more growth and is now at 22 million monthly active users and is projected to reach 30 million users by the end of 2020.

This is up from the 20 million Viacom announced back in November and the 12 million active users when they acquired the company for $340 million last January.

Earlier this month, Tubi announced it had reached 25 million users, putting it ahead of Pluto TV.
