Max launches Rewind feature, showing customers’ 2024 favorites
Spotify’s Wrapped feature is now being copied by more and more streamers.
As the year draws to a close, social media platforms are flooded with pictures of users’ Spotify Wrapped statistics. People love the communal feel they get from sharing their most-listened-to music genres and artists, and now streaming services are trying to harness some of that energy for themselves. Warner Bros. Discovery’s streamer Max is the latest to make this attempt, having rolled out its new Rewind feature to show viewers what they watched most this year.
Key Details:
- The Max Rewind feature is available now.
- Viewers can see their most-watched genres, how often they completed a new series and more.
- A third-party website is helping users create a version of this feature for Netflix, as well.
Max’s Rewind feature is available to subscribers now. Once you log into the streamer, a special pop-up window will appear that will offer to guide you through your year in streaming on Max. Don’t worry if you’d rather not scroll through, however; Max’s Rewind is optional.
First, Rewind will assign you a character based on your viewing habits. I got the Trendsetter character, though I’m not sure exactly what that means, since Max doesn’t provide any additional context other than the fact that 26% of other viewers got the same character.
From there, Rewind will show you the genre you watched most during 2024. You’ll also see the top profile avatars used in every state in the United States, before Max shows you another statistic related specifically to your viewing, such as whether or not you tend to watch shows from start to finish.
At the end of the exercise, you’ll be taken to a content page of TV shows and movies that came out on Max in 2024, such as “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and “Dune Prophecy.” Viewers who are hoping for a statistical deep dive into their history will be somewhat disappointed, but perhaps Max will make more robust efforts in this regard next year.
Fans can take a bit of a deeper dive into their Netflix viewing history, thanks to the website Kapwing. It’s offering an unofficial “Netflix Wrapped,” which allows you to upload your viewing data directly from Netflix and then breaks it down for you in a multitude of ways.
