Amazon Releases ‘Last Narc’ True-Crime Trailer

Fern Siegel

The four-part docuseries “The Last Narc” begins May 15 on Amazon Prime Video, but the streamer just released the trailer for the provocative true-crime series.

The documentary chronicles the 1985 kidnapping and murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camerena.

The story is multifaceted, focusing on agent Hector Berrellez, who led the murder investigation, as well as the conspiracy behind the crime that involved the highest levels of power in Washington.

According to Amazon, “Berrellez’s powerful testimony appears alongside that of Camarena’s brave widow, as well as three Guadalajara Cartel insiders. These men were corrupt Jalisco State policemen who, at the time of Camarena’s murder, served as bodyguards to legendary drug lords Rafael Caro Quintero and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo. Eventually, they became informants for Berrellez and helped him crack the most infamous murder of the War on Drugs.”

The series is directed by Tiller Russell (“Operation Odessa,” “Seven Five”) who often employs true-crime stories in both his fiction and nonfiction films. His next project is the upcoming “Silk Road,” with Jason Clarke and Nick Robinson.

“The Last Narc” is an Amazon Studios-Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC) production.

Separately, Amazon announced it is bringing Food Network Kitchen free for a year to its Fire TV and Fire tablet customers.
