“We are thrilled to launch discovery+ in Canada, a country of devoted Discovery fans and home to many of the most beloved stars in our family,” said JB Perrette, President and CEO of Discovery Streaming and International. “Discovery+ is one of one: the definitive real life streaming service, and we deliver the best streaming value to our fans. We know it will resonate with our loyal audience in Canada, as we continue to roll the service out to a number of key markets around the world throughout the rest of 2021.”
Like its American counterpart, the Canadian version of discovery+ will not include live streams of Discovery-owned channels.
The discovery+ app will bring its strong search capability to Canada, just as it has in the US, which includes features to allow subscribers to quickly and easily find what they want to watch as well as the ability to deep dive into a wide variety of content that can be filtered by new or trending topic areas. User profiles allow multiple viewers in the same household to separately categorize their content and keep track of what they are watching on an ongoing basis.
