Fubo Announces Updates to Android Mobile App for Better Viewing, Faster Navigation
Soon, Fubo subscribers on Android devices will be able to stream in landscape mode, enjoy picture-in-picture browsing and more.
The engineers at Fubo are at it again! The sports-centric live TV streaming company’s chief product officer Mike Berkley announced over the weekend that it was rolling out an update with some new features for its Android mobile app. If they haven’t already, subscribers will soon see the updated user experience on their phone or tablet.
- Fubo’s new Android update will allow browsers to check emails, browse, or chat while watching using picture-in-picture mode.
- Customers will also now be able to watch Fubo in Landscape mode on Android mobile devices.
- Thumbnails have been added to on-demand content for easier identification and navigation.
What New Features Will Fubo Subscribers on Android Mobile Devices Get?
Streaming video on a mobile phone may shrink the size of the screen, but it also allows the viewer to check emails, browse the web, or use other apps on their device while watching. Fubo customers will soon be able to do this on their Android mobile device, thanks to the new picture-in-picture mode that the streamer is introducing in its latest update.
Android mobile customers will also be able to watch Fubo in the horizontal Landscape mode instead of being restricted to vertical Portrait mode. Berkley’s announcement makes special mention of tablets when mentioning the new Landscape mode ability, so there is a chance that customers with smaller phone screens might not be able to use Landscape mode to stream Fubo on a wider screen.
Lastly, Fubo is adding thumbnails to on-demand video for Android mobile customers. This will allow audiences to see and quickly identify on-demand titles, which makes the service’s interface quicker to navigate and lets viewers get to watching their chosen show or movie faster.
Do New Features Indicate Fubo Will Raise Prices Again?
With every streaming service seemingly using any justification to raise prices these days, it would make sense that some customers might be nervous that additional features for Fubo subscribers on Android mobile devices could mean higher subscription costs.
Fortunately, a relatively small update like this won’t be enough to cause Fubo to raise its prices. The streamer did agree to a renewed retransmission deal with Nexstar in early January that will keep Nexstar-owned local channels on Fubo, however, and that new deal did lead to Fubo raising prices on all of its subscription plans by $5 per month.
For now, at least, customers who stream Fubo on their Android phone or tablet will be able to sit back and enjoy their new features without the fear of a price increase. The updated Fubo app carrying these new features is making its way to Android mobile devices now.
