Fubo Expands Availability to Comcast Streaming Devices, Xumo TV

Customers with the Xfinity Flex and Xumo TV-powered devices will be able to stream the Fubo app thanks to the expansion.

Fubo is now available on a range of devices offered by Comcast.

One of the oldest cliches in professional sports is the maxim “Your best ability is your availability.” As a live TV streaming service that specializes in sports broadcasting, Fubo knows this better than most. That’s why the streamer has announced this week that it is enhancing its availability by coming to a new range of streaming devices, including the Xfinity Flex and the Xumo Stream Box.

Key Facts:

  • Fubo is available on Xfinity and Xumo streaming devices now.
  • All Xumo smart TVs powered by the Xumo TV operating system can also access Fubo.
  • The Xumo Stream Box first became available in December, and offers a voice remote for easy searches.
The Xumo Stream Box now offers the Fubo app, along with Xumo TV-powered smart sets.

Fubo offers more than 90 channels in each of its streaming plans, and depending on geographic area your channel count could be even higher. It carries a huge range of regional sports networks, including those from Bally Sports. Plans to the service start at $91.99 per month, including regional sports network fees, after a free trial.

Customers will now find Fubo on the Xfinity Flex streaming device, which is available to Xfinity internet customers and allows viewers to stream content in Ultra-High-Definition 4K with a compatible device. That’s especially handy for Fubo subscribers, since the streamer frequently carries select 4K events.

The expansion of Fubo also encompasses Xumo Stream Boxes and Xumo TV-powered smart TVs. First introduced in December, the Xumo Stream Box offers a universal voice search to look for streaming titles across platforms, and allows viewers to sign up for new services like Fubo. New Xfinity Internet customers can grab the Xumo Stream Box for a one-time activation fee when they sign up for their account.

“Live sports is best enjoyed on the big screen - in fact, 95% of Fubo viewers are watching their favorite content on connected and smart televisions,” said Isaac Josephson, SVP, Product Management, Fubo. “We’re thrilled to add Comcast’s Xfinity Flex, Xumo TV and Xumo Stream Box streaming platforms to Fubo’s suite of TV devices. A big shout out to the many teams across Fubo and Comcast for their hard work in bringing our premium user experience to Comcast streaming customers.”

For Fubo, the expansion to Xfinity Flex and Xumo devices is another way to advance its goal of becoming profitable by 2025. Fubo faces pressure from multiple sides, however; it continues to face hard programming decisions about whether to pay higher carriage fees for channels, or drop those channels and risk losing customers as a consequence. It also faces stiff potential competition for the eyes of sports fans from the new Venu Sports joint venture service, and has filed a lawsuit to try and stop the streamer from ever reaching customers.

Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service with about 90 top channels that start at $79.99 per month. This plan includes local channels, 19 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). In total, you should expect to pay about $94.99 per month, after adding in their RSN Fee. Fubo was previously known as “fuboTV.”

The streaming service does not carry channels from WarnerMedia-owned (CNN, TBS, and TNT), A+E (A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime), and AMC Networks (AMC, BBC America, and WE tv). So, in our experience, if you are looking to watch the NBA, which heavily plays on TBS and TNT, you may want to look at another live TV streaming provider.

But for other sports fans, especially those who want to stream local sports, Fubo is a great option in our opinion. They recently announced adding Bally Sports RSNs to their channel lineup and it is the least expensive option to get RSNs in many markets like Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Take a look at the full list of Fubo’s sports channels.)

Fubo also includes MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network, and beIN Sports (which is not available on most services). You can add Fox Soccer Plus as part of the International Sports Plus add-on for $6/month.

You can add the fubo Extra ($8) to add ~37 channels including GSN.
