Fubo’s Free Streaming Platform Is Now Available; Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Viewers can watch hundreds of FAST channels on Fubo Free, but not everyone will be able to access the streamer.

Former subscribers and free trial customers of Fubo can now access its platform Fubo Free.

Fubo didn’t waste any time getting its free streaming service to viewers! Just 10 days after telling The Streamable that Fubo Free was rolling out “in the coming weeks,” the company has launched the platform with hundreds of free streaming channels. As with any new service, there are a number of questions about what Fubo Free is and how it works. We’ll walk you through everything you’ll need to know to start watching Fubo Free now.

What Is Fubo Free?

Fubo Free is a new, free streaming platform created by Fubo. It carries 170+ free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels, with both live and on-demand content available. The service carries both sports and entertainment-themed channels, with no need to enter your credit card information when you sign up.

Viewers can set or reorder their favorite channels, browse a channel guide, or use a search function to find specific titles, add shows and movies to a Watchlist, and enjoy other features as part of the Fubo Free experience.

Who Can Use Fubo Free?

Fubo Free is not available to the general public as of now. The only viewers who can access the service are select former Fubo subscribers with an expired paid or free-trial subscription. The Fubo website says that only a limited number of former Fubo trialers or subscribers have access to Fubo Free “initially,” which suggests that more past Fubo users might be able to use it going forward.

How Can You Access Fubo Free?

If you are a former Fubo customer, head to the Fubo website and log in with your old credentials. Once you’re in, scroll down to see if the “Go to free content instead” option is available to you. If it is, click and head over to Fubo Free and start watching! If you don’t see the option, keep checking back to see if Fubo Free becomes available to you on a later date.

Do Paid Fubo Subscribers Also Get Fubo Free?

Yes, paid Fubo customers get access to all the FAST channels within the Fubo Free platform as part of their subscription. These channels are already incorporated into their channel guide, so they don’t need to go through the process listed above in order to access the separate free platform.

Is There a DVR Option with Fubo Free?

No, at this time Fubo Free is not offering viewers the ability to record live programming in order to watch on demand later. The Sling TV-owned service Sling Freestream does offer limited DVR on select titles, as does Philo’s free streaming platform.

Are Local Broadcast Channels or Cable Networks Available on Fubo Free?

No. Fubo Free carries 170+ FAST channels, but it does not offer any cable networks like FS1, FX, or ESPN, nor does it carry broadcast channels like ABC or CBS. To access those channels, viewers will need a paid Fubo subscription, starting at $79.99 per month (not including regional sports network fees).

Does Fubo Free Have Any 4K Content?

Paid Fubo subscribers who sign up for the streamer’s Elite or Premier plans know they can watch select live sports events in 4K on the service. Ultra-high-definition 4K is the best screen resolution widely available to consumers, but it is not available with any content on Fubo Free.

Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service with about 90 top channels that start at $79.99 per month. This plan includes local channels, 19 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). In total, you should expect to pay about $94.99 per month, after adding in their RSN Fee. Fubo was previously known as “fuboTV.”

The streaming service does not carry channels from WarnerMedia-owned (CNN, TBS, and TNT), A+E (A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime), and AMC Networks (AMC, BBC America, and WE tv). So, in our experience, if you are looking to watch the NBA, which heavily plays on TBS and TNT, you may want to look at another live TV streaming provider.

But for other sports fans, especially those who want to stream local sports, Fubo is a great option in our opinion. They recently announced adding Bally Sports RSNs to their channel lineup and it is the least expensive option to get RSNs in many markets like Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Take a look at the full list of Fubo’s sports channels.)

Fubo also includes MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network, and beIN Sports (which is not available on most services). You can add Fox Soccer Plus as part of the International Sports Plus add-on for $6/month.

You can add the fubo Extra ($8) to add ~37 channels including GSN.
