HIDIVE Announces Two Exclusive Simulcast Series Debuting in April; ‘Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night,’ ‘Whisper Me a Love Song’

‘Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night’ and ‘Whisper Me a Love Song’ will both premiere on HIDIVE after their North American debuts at Anime Boston 2024.

There are more changes a-brewing at HIDIVE! AMC’s anime-dedicated streaming service has announced it will debut two new series in the month of April, which will be exclusive simulcast streams of hotly anticipated titles from Japan. HIDIVE will be debuting “Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night” and “Whisper Me a Love Song” next month, with both series expected to serve as centerpieces of the streamer’s spring schedule.

  • “Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night” and “Whisper Me a Love Song” will see their North American premieres at Anime Boston on March 29, with their HIDIVE premiere to follow soon after.
  • Both series are brand-new releases and will stream on HIDIVE simultaneously with their releases in Japan.
  • HIDIVE recently rolled out a big update to its user interface, including the ability to download shows and movies for offline viewing.

Both of the new series heading to HIDIVE in April are due to make their North American premieres in March. On Friday, March 29, the Anime Boston convention will show the first two episodes of “Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night,” as well as the first episode of “Whisper Me a Love Song.” Soon after, the shows will become available to stream on-demand on HIDIVE, concurrent with their releases on linear channels in Japan.

“Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night” is a coming-of-age story with a large cast of characters. It’s set in Central Tokyo’s Shibuya City, a hotbed of Japanese youth culture where fashion, art, entertainment, and nightlife meet in the streets. It’s the perfect backdrop for a group of young artists to come together, which is exactly what illustrator Mahiru Kozuki, former idol Kano Yamanouchi, V-tuber Kiui Watase, and composer Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi do.

“We’re delighted to add ‘Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night’ to HIDIVE’s Spring 2024 line-up of exclusive simulcast series,” HIDIVE president John Ledford said. “With animation by Doga Kobo, the studio behind 2023’s global smash hit ‘Oshi no Ko,’ this original coming-of-age ensemble drama is sure to be one of top new series of the year. Fans do not want to miss a single episode of ‘Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night!’”

“Whisper Me a Love Song” follows musician Yori Asanagi, who knocks the crowd’s socks off with a performance of a song at a school event. She soon gets a confession of love from one of her fellow students Himari, but as she thinks over his feelings he returns to tell her that he never meant to confess his love, merely his admiration! Yori decides she wants to make Himari fall for her, not just her music, but can she succeed?

“We’re pleased to present the anime adaptation of Whisper Me a Love Song as an exclusive simulcast series during our Spring 2024 season,” Ledford continued. “The wait is over and fans of this eagerly awaited romance series can now look forward to its premiere on HIDIVE this April!”

What Else is New on HIDIVE?

The spring release schedule is not the only aspect of HIDIVE to see a major update, recently. The streamer recently unveiled some big changes for its user interface, allowing customers to download titles for watching offline and overhauling HIDIVE’s search and watch history functions to make content discovery a lot more simple.

Anime fans can subscribe to HIDIVE for just $4.99 per month. It allows customers to stream with no ads, and features subbed and dubbed anime series, live-action titles, and simulcast series delivered directly from Japan. Two more of this last category of show are coming to HIDIVE in April, when the streamer will add “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” and “Whisper Me a Love Song.”
