How Much Will It Cost to Bundle Disney, Fox, and WBD’s Sports Streamer with Disney+, Hulu, and Max?

WBD has confirmed that customers will be able to bundle Max with the streamer, and such bundles usually come with big discounts for customers.

Anyone with a bank account and a subscription to a service like Netflix or Disney+ knows the cost of streaming is rising. A recent survey from Forbes found that the average American consumer pays $924 per year, or $77 per month on streaming services, and customers are hoping that an increase in bundling will help bring prices back down a bit. Those harboring such hopes received good news this week when it was announced that Warner Bros. Discovery’s flagship streamer Max will be available to bundle with the joint venture sports streaming service being created by WBD, Disney, and Fox. Disney is also set to offer a similar bundle, but how much can audiences expect to pay if they want to maximize their streaming savings?

  • The Streamable estimates that the JV sports streamer will likely cost between $40 and $50 per month on its own.
  • Combinations such as the Disney Bundle offer customers discounts of nearly 40% off what viewers would pay to subscribe to those services separately.
  • Fans can expect to pay between $55 and $65 per month to bundle the JV sports streamer with Disney and WBD streamers.

The joint venture service will feature complete versions of top sports channels such as ESPN, FS1, and TNT, alongside broadcast TV channels ABC and Fox, among others. It will carry a wide variety of sports, including games from the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB, along with thousands of high-demand college sports. Considering the range of programming available on the platform, The Streamable's expert prediction is that it will likely cost between $40 and $50 per month.

How Much Will It Cost to Bundle Disney Streamers with JV Sports Platform?

The as-yet-unnamed JV sports streamer will be available in a bundle with Disney services, as Disney confirmed last week. Disney already offers its three streamers in various bundling combinations; customers can get ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu together in the Duo Basic bundle for $9.99, which represents a 38% discount over what viewers would pay to get those services separately.

ESPN+’s content will be included in the JV streamer, so there would be no reason for it to be bundled with the forthcoming platform from Disney, Fox, and WBD. However, it seems likely that Disney will discount its Duo Basic bundle even further when combined with the JV sports platform in order to make it as irresistible as possible for customers.

Based on Disney’s current discounts and bundles, our expert prediction is that the company will discount the added cost of the Duo Basic bundle to $7.99, essentially giving customers access to one of the services for free. This would resemble Disney’s tactics in distributing Hulu + Live TV, which allows subscribers free access to the Trio Basic bundle when they sign up for the live TV streamer. Assuming the JV streamer comes in at the higher end of our predicted price point, that would peg the cost of a bundle of ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and the sports streamer at $57.99 per month.

The Streamable’s Predicted Cost for Disney+, Hulu, Sports Streamer Bundle: $57.99 Per Month

How Much Will it Cost to Bundle Max with JV Sports Platform?

Max’s cost when bundled with the new streamer is a little more difficult to determine, as it does not offer itself in as many bundles as Disney’s streamers do. Nevertheless, there are some clues available; for example, Max is currently available in a bundle with Netflix for select Verizon Wireless customers. The bundle includes ad-supported plans of both streamers and costs $9.99 per month, a 42% discount over what audiences pay to subscribe to these services on their own.

Given that bundling Max alone with the JV streamer will bring less content to customers than a bundle of Disney+ and Hulu with the sports platform, it’s reasonable to assume that Max combining with that platform will cost less. Max offers content from both HBO and discovery+, but it has far fewer titles than a combination of Disney+ and Hulu does.

With that in mind, our prediction is that the combination of Max with the sports JV platform will cost $55 per month, $5 off what fans would pay to get Max and the JV platform separately.

The Streamable’s Predicted Cost for Max, Sports Streamer Bundle: $55 per month.

What Would a Bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and Max with Sports Platform Cost?

A combination of Disney+, Hulu, and Max would give customers a powerful array of top franchises, from Marvel to Star Wars to the Game of Thrones universe and much more. It seems probable that WBD and Disney will agree to offer a bundle that combines those three streamers with the JV sports platform, and it will likely bring the best value of any of the bundles provided.

To make it a truly attractive price to customers and still keep the cost of the bundle lower than the price of a cable plan, WBD and Disney will have to give viewers a meaningful discount on such a plan. Sticking with the assumption of $50 per month for the sports platform, our best guess is that bundling it with Disney+, Hulu, and Max will cost $65 per month. That would represent a 42% discount over what customers would pay to get all three of the entertainment services separately, right in line with the markdown both companies offer on their current streaming bundles.

The Streamable’s Predicted Cost for Disney+, Hulu, Max, Sports Streamer Bundle: $65 per month.

Will Fox Offer Its Streaming Service Bundled with JV Sports Platform As Well?

While not nearly as heralded as Disney+, Hulu, or Max, Fox also offers a direct-to-consumer (DTC) streamer, the news and lifestyle platform Fox Nation. However, it appears unlikely that the service will be bundled with those from Disney or WBD, or the sports platform from all three companies at this time.

Fox Nation caters to a more niche audience with its right-wing news commentary shows, as well as its more conservative lifestyle programming. In The Streamable’s opinion, the overlap in audiences simply does not appear large enough that a bundle would prove an attractive option to a meaningful viewer segment.
