Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” tops the nominations list at lucky number 13 at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, its 77th ceremony celebrating the best of British and international contributions to film. Others to look out for include “Poor Things,” “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and more, plus this year’s EE Rising Star Award, with nominees Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Sophie Wilde. In the United Kingdom, the BAFTAs will air on the BBC, but BritBox will carry the simulcast stream for this year’s ceremony, which will be hosted by David Tennant from Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday, Feb. 18 beginning at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. This year’s EE British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) Film Awards, now in its 77th year, will celebrate 38 of the year’s best British and international contributions to film. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” leads the pack with 13 nominations, including Best Film and acting awards in three categories (Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actress for Emily Blunt, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey, Jr.). Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” follows closely behind with 11 nominations, followed “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9), “The Zone of Interest” (9), “Anatomy of a Fall” (7), “The Holdovers” (7), “Maestro” (7), “All of Us Strangers” (6), “Barbie” (5), and “Saltburn” (5).
“Good Omens” and “Doctor Who” star David Tennant will host this year’s ceremony, which will be streamed live from Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London beginning at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. The evening will also feature performances from Sophie Ellis Bextor and Hannah Waddingham.
BAFTA and BritBox also just recently inked a new deal to continue to stream a simulcast of the Film Awards to subscribers in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway through 2025. The best-of-British streamer will also simulcast the BAFTA Television Awards for the first time, which will take place on May 12.
