Edward Wayne Brady is slated for execution, but first the state must determine if he’s mentally competent. Dr. James Martin is assigned to assess Brady’s competency, which is called into question when the inmate begins to claim that he’s been possessed by a demon who calls himself Nefarious, and suggests that he and his fellow evil minions are responsible for most of the world’s ills.

Martin doesn’t believe Brady’s tale, but he’s shaken when Edward says he will commit three murders of his own before the day is done. Martin dismisses these rantings at first, but soon Nefarious reveals details about his life that he shouldn’t know. Before long, Martin is forced to question everything he knows, and he soon finds himself deep in the clutches of the demon.
